This little Red breasted sapsucker (Sphyrapicus ruber) hit the window pretty hard and i got it nurse it back to health . It took all of about 10 min. of intense perching before it flew away.

Margaret just sent me this wonderful pic of a nesting trumpeter swan (Cygnus buccanator). The nest that its sitting on is called a dougnut for some reason. I think its because of the birdseye view.

My friend Emma showed up the other day with some Eulachon (Thaleichthys pacificus), otherwise know as the candle fish. Can we smoke them in your smoker she asked? She started the fire then left for 4 hours and let me tend to the darn thing. After numerous people showed up, left, came back, they were done after 13 hours of smoking. Tonight were going to can them. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

Just came across some Trumpeter Swans (Cygnus buccanator) at about 14 mile on the Haines Hwy. About 35 pounds they are the heaviest flying birds in North America. They also had 5 baby cygnets

Wow! 332,500 miles and it made it to the put in for the Alsek. I bailed on this trip because I was "too busy". Never again!! Anyway, the Alsek is such a beautiful place, I highly recommend it to anyone

Shower, hot water, toilet,... well, things are coming together quickly. Slate is hard stuff to work with I found out. Different thicknesses, Not square, Between 11 13/16 and 12 1/16. A real challenge but came out really beautiful. I really proud of it, come by and check it out for yourself.

Hi everyone. I know its been a while but i'm back again. I'm going through Austin and i'm staying at Sally's house. Years in the making but stunning. Lots of ceder and a great view from up top. Last time i saw it there was only a dirt floor so its giving me quite a bit of inspiration to finish mine. I can only hope its as nice as hers. There is an ice storm headed this way so i'm trying to figure out how and when to depart here to make the ferry in Bellingham Stay posted!

Hawaii volcano nat. park. The lava flow came and wiped out this road back in 1995 and now you have to hike almost 2 hours to see the flow. No plans to repave the road....yet

Just hanging out at the black sand beach when a Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) came up to have a little rest. Not very big by other sea turtle standards but quite impressive in its own right. About 2 1/2 feet long ts not nearly as graceful on land as they are in the water.

11 People in my boat yesterday! Haven't had that many since the Skagway days. It was cool though. Two little people (LisaMaria) were in the front.A set of twins that were born exactly at the same time. Hmmmm.

Well,Dustin and myself went fishin' at 21 mile for the day, caught 2 dogs and 2 sockeye. The eggs are from from the chum. They love them in Japan and i can see why!!
